Janis is dedicated to providing smart, creative, above-and-beyond real estate services to her clients. Today’s real estate market is competitive, and Janis works hard to create opportunities for her clients and give them the information they need to make good decisions. Her approach is based on rigorous analysis, strategic thinking, advanced preparation, smart negotiation, and frequent communication.
Janis started her career as an economics professor at the Colorado School of Mines and then became a Vice President at Analysis Group, a national economic consulting firm. She has over 20 years of experience as a teacher, researcher and corporate consultant. Janis earned an undergraduate degree from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in environmental and resource economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
As a real estate broker, Janis combines her expertise in business and economics, her knowledge of Denver neighborhoods, her life-long love of architecture and design, and her strong communication skills to guide her clients through the exciting and complex process of buying and selling a home. Real estate transactions can be stressful and are often related to significant life events such as marriage, divorce, the passing of a loved one, or the birth of a baby. Janis is motivated by a desire to help people through these life transitions. She is honest, ethical, and compassionate. She dedicates herself to making her clients’ real estate transactions enjoyable, predictable, efficient, and successful.
Janis moved to Colorado in 1998, first living in Golden and then in Park Hill. She moved to Stapleton in 2004 and is now in her third Stapleton home. Her life has taken her all over the metro area. She has worked in Golden, Lakewood, Downtown, Stapleton, and Cherry Creek, and her kids have gone to school in the Golden Triangle, Montclair, Park Hill, Five Points, Centennial, and Stapleton. Her clients benefit from her broad-based, “street view,” neighborhood knowledge.
In addition to being a real estate broker, Janis is Co-Founder and Co-Director of Blue IRIS, a non-profit dedicated to providing information, professional resources, and support to women going through divorce. She is also an active volunteer at her children’s schools and in the community. One of her most rewarding projects was bringing together interested parties to gain approval to build the City Lights Community Garden in Five Points.
In her free time, Janis enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She likes adventure – she has climbed 14ers, ridden her bike from Durango to Colorado Springs, lived in Turkey, and traveled in Mongolia – but she also likes quiet time – one of her goals is to spend more time on the couch relaxing with a good book.
