Enjoy free day at the Denver Art Museum! It happens the first Saturday of every month, so today is your day to access their wonderful non-ticketed exhibitions free of charge, courtesy of Target and the supporters of SCFD. Don’t miss the Matisse and Friends exhibit on Level 1 of the Hamilton Building where you can see brilliant expressive paintings by Henri Matisse, Marquet, Dufy, and more. Love antiques? Head to Antique Row – at the 1100-1800 blocks of South Broadway – afor their Holiday Open House! Taking place from 10AM-4PM, they will have free Clydesdale horse and hay rides, Santa from 1-3PM and lots of specials on food, drinks and gifts. Read more on their website.
Saturday night will feature the 40th Annual 9NEWS Parade of Lights – a Denver favorite. Starting at 6PM, you can witness a procession of over 40 groups, including marching bands, beautiful floats, horse-drawn carriages, and more! They route begins along Tremont Street and finishes up on 15th Street, so grab your family (and bundle up!) and head down to view this awesome Colorado tradition. Who doesn’t love ice skating at this time of year? You can now grab your skates (or rent them) and head to 16th and Arapahoe to skate your way around the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park. It’s open from 10AM-7PM, so come down and skate around on the ice amongst the city skyscrapers. Check out more information here.
Another holiday tradition for many families is going to see A Christmas Carol – one of the most loved productions to watch at this time of year. Watch Ebenezer Scrooge learn how to embrace the holiday spirit at The Stage Theatre through December 28th. This Sunday is Family Day, with two performances – one at 1:30PM and the other at 6:30PM. If you’re a thrifter/DIY-er/lover of crafts, you probably already know about Denver Flea – Holiday Edition! Taking place both Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6PM, the huge market will feature Colorado-made goods, beer, food, giveaways, and more.
