Physical Therapy Background Helps Shelley Bridge of
RE/MAX of Cherry Creek Assist Disabled Home Buyers
DENVER – When Shelley Bridge earned her degree in Physical Therapy from the Mayo Clinic, subsequently working with spinal and head injury patients for eight years at Craig Hospital, she may not have known how valuable her abilities would be when starting her real estate career in 1981. Armed with this special knowledge and expertise from her original career, the leading broker associate and co-owner with RE/MAX of Cherry Creek has been assisting disabled home buyers ever since, including three clients last year.
“I still remember the special needs that disabled people have and can therefore preview homes and eliminate properties that may be difficult or impossible to modify for these special clients,” said Bridge. “I also offer the ability to get these clients into the homes for showings. Many of the properties we look at may not be modified for a wheelchair, which means someone needs to ‘bump’ the wheelchair up the steps and get the clients inside the home. Katie Hoster, my buyer specialist and part of The Bridge Team at RE/MAX of Cherry Creek, has good knowledge about what is needed in a home to accommodate a wheelchair after assisting me with these three clients last year.”
Bridge can also refer disabled clients to people who can make the modifications that are needed, such as ramps, wheel-in showers, or kitchen modifications. Bridge or members of her team are willing to meet these people at the property to get bids so the modifications can begin immediately after closing for a quick move. The three clients she assisted most recently included a past client, one referral from that same client, and one referral from a Craig Hospital staff member.
Bridge earned her real estate license in 1981 and currently serves the diverse real estate needs of clients throughout Denver’s most desirable and historic neighborhoods. She is a Certified Negotiation Expert and a Certified Distressed Property Expert with special expertise in avoiding foreclosure. Bridge is a mentor in East High School’s A+ Angels Program and keeps in shape as an avid Yoga enthusiast. She chose RE/MAX of Cherry Creek due to the company’s strong market share and group ownership.
